Friends of Woking Homes Christmas Coffee Morning
Once again the Friends of Woking Homes, Residents, Relatives and Staff enjoyed the annual Christmas Coffee Morning and raised £583 towards activities and entertainment for the Residents.
There was a fantastic raffle, tombola stall, cakes and crafts stall plus two games, all enjoyed with the first mince pie of the season with sherry and/or coffee.
Thank you to everyone who helped either by donations or just spending their money.

Once again there was a lot of support for the Easter Coffee Morning and we raised a record £444.91.  Thank you to everyone for helping to make this event so successful.  

 
Woking Homes Open Day

Woking Homes Open Day Woking Homes will offer you a warm welcome at their Open Day on Saturday 21st March from 10 am to 2 pm.
Come and see for yourself the facilities and have a chance to speak to staff and residents.  Staff will be on hand to answer your questions and give you advice about coming to stay at Woking Homes either for respite or on a trial basis.

Wear it Pink Breast Cancer Campaign Day
Woking Homes are raising money for the Breast Cancer Campaign on Friday 24th October.  Staff will pay to wear pink to work, can join in many fund raising games and there will be a 'Pink Raffle' and pink cakes to buy.  To donate to the fund raising please contact Admin on 01483 763558 or email administration@woking-homes.co.uk

A small but perfectly formed group filled a lovely Saturday morning by walking to raise money for Woking Homes.  The total raised was £630 which was a splendid effort.

This year we changed the Coffee Morning from Thursday to Saturday and were delighted to welcome many more relatives and friends to Woking Homes. It was a marvellous success and we raised a fantastic £342 which was a record amount.

World Wide Knit in Public Week - 8th - 16th June
The Ladies Group at Woking Homes started knitting squares during this week making it a competition, with a winner knitting the most squares and a winner guessing the total number of squares.

Woking Homes joined in the "Good Care Week" campaign to promote social care in the local area. 
As part of the campaign our insurance company Towergate Patrick provided tea and cake in the Bar Lounge after being entertained by Mark the Pianist.

On Saturday 9th February 2013 Woking Homes held an Open Day. 
Various extra activities were held for the Residents, a Special Ladies Group Quilt Exhibition, Saturday Morning Pictures and a Pianist entertained the Residents in the afternoon.

The Grand Christmas Draw was held at Woking Homes on Friday 14th December with some amazing prizes such as a 40" Flat Screen TV, iPAD, Xbox, Kindle to name but a few.  
We raised an amazing £3,636 and would like to thank everyone for taking part by either donating a prize or buying a ticket.

Sponsored Walk = Saturday 13th October and Pub Quiz - Friday 19th October 

These events were great fun and they raised jointly £920.  A "Bubble Tube" for the Residents was purchased with this money.  Hopefully the Residents will get great enjoyment from it.   



Friends of Woking Homes Christmas Coffee Morning - Thursday 22nd November 

The annual Christmas Coffee Morning was once again very well attended and along with the sherry, coffee and mince pies there was a tombola and craft stall, a game and raffle.  We raised a fantastic £354.70, which was a great effort for such a short space of time.

Kath celebrates her 100th Birthday A party was held at Woking Homes on Saturday 19th November when Kath's family, friends, residents and staff gathered to congratulate and toast her 100 years of life.

Garden Party This year the Garden Party was held in the new Bar Lounge/Conservatory.  The newly planted gardens looked immaculate to greet our many guests.

Shapla School Visit Children from Shapla School in Tower Hamlets, London came to Woking Homes for a visit.

Gardening Day On Saturday 9th July, four enthusiastic volunteers from Network Rail, South West Trains, our board of Trustees and our relatives, visited Woking Homes to help our fundraisers and gardener spruce up our grounds.

Waterloo Charity Collection On 30th June, 24 volunteers from Network Rail, South West Trains and Woking Homes (staff, residents, trustees, friends and family) joined forces at Waterloo Station to raise money for Woking Homes.  

 
Basingstoke Driver Simulator Visit

Basingstoke Driver Simulator Visit On Saturday 11th June Chrissie Abbott, Kat O'Malley, Tom Howell, Jack Schofield and Ron Williams visited the South West Trains driver simulator in Basingstoke.  We were lucky enough to have Chris Norris, Jerry Bond and Mick Pearce come in on their Saturday morning off for our training in train driving.

Royal Wedding 'Street Party'- As with the rest of the country Woking Homes celebrated the Royal Wedding with a 'Street Party'.

Easter Coffee Morning The Residents, Staff, some Relatives and Friends of Woking Homes enjoyed an Easter Coffee Morning on Saturday 16th April and raised £223.50, which was a splendid effort in such a short time.  It was a beautiful morning and with enjoyable company Andy's home made hot cross buns went down a treat!

Wimbledon Signal Box Visit On 28th March, six Woking Homes residents - John Beeson, Len Burnett, Ron Conquest, Alan Martin, Henry Metelmann and Jack Schofield, visited Wimbledon signal box to see the railway in action today.

Woking Signaller Simulator Visit On 18th March John Beeson, Alan Martin, Jack Schofield and John Wiggins visited Woking signaller simulator to have a practice signalling trains.

Ginge Neal celebrates his 100th Birthday On Wednesday 9th March, Ginge Neal celebrated his 100th Birthday at Woking Homes.

Mad Hatter's Afternoon The Residents enjoyed an afternoon "Beetle Drive" at a recent Mad Hatter's Tea Party.  The Residents had been preparing for the afternoon by making fantastic hats.  Some members of the Friends of Woking Homes came along to join in the activities.

Activity Art Project The Residents participited in an activity project run by Art in Action.  They are running a project called Generation Art which is funded by Vcashpoint to promote culture and friendship for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Retirement of Trustee Gordon Pettitt On 21st January 2010 we held a gathering to commemorate over 30 years service to Woking Homes by Gordon Pettitt OBE.

Residents and Staff Christmas Dance Woking Homes Resident and Staff Christmas Dance was held on December 20th.  Despite the cold and freezing conditions many relatives also joined in the festivities.
